Provincial Playdowns have begun . . .
The battle for the 2 spots to this year's OWHA Provincial Championship Tournament is underway.  The top 2 teams from Grey-Bruce will be decided by March 12th and the 'Country Charm Mennonite Furniture' BANTAM C REBELS have set their sights on one of those golden tickets!

The girls hosted the Kincardine Kinucks for GAME 1 in Chatsworth on Saturday afternoon.
The REBELS and KINUCKS are two closely matched teams, and so far this season our record is 2-1-0.

The 1st period went by scoreless.  The Rebels took advantage of a power-play in the 2nd, and in a scramble at the Kinucks' net, Reese Wilkins got the puck past their goalie, assisted by Janna Wardell and Jamie Gilchrist at 10:45.
Kincardine came out hard in the 3rd, and after goalie Ashlynn Stephenson faced a barrage of shots, it was an awkward bounce that made it past her to tie it up.
With 3:48 left on the clock, the Kinucks went on a breakaway and scored the go-ahead goal that ended up being the winning goal.
Final Score: Kinucks 2 - Rebels 1

Sunday morning was a rematch in Kincardine for GAME 2, and the girls were ready!
They out played their opponents in the 1st period, but it didn't result in any goals.  The 2nd period also went by scoreless, with the play going back and forth on the large ice surface.

Kincardine pulled their goalie in the final minutes of the game, but Ashlynn wasn't about to let them ruin her shut-out.
Final Score: Rebels 1 - Kinucks 0

The coaches would like to recognize Grace Scott as their player of the week.  Grace has stepped up her game, getting the puck out of the corners and making many heads up plays this weekend.  Great Job Grace!

GAME 3 of the Playdowns will be this Friday night (Feb.24) in Chatsworth at 7pm, when the South Bruce Blades come to town.
It's sure to be a good game, come out and cheer your REBELS on!
