It's been a week ... and it still stings!
The COUNTRY CHARM MENNONITE FURNITURE Bantam 'C' Girls took part in the Saugeen Shores International Silver Stick Tournament last weekend and although they had 3 very close games, it wasn't enough to move onto the semi-finals.

The girls finished with a 0 - 2 - 1 record.

Game 1 on Friday against the Grand River Mustangs (the Champions of the Silver Stick) ended in a 2 - 0 loss for the REBELS.  The teams were evenly matched, we just couldn't get the puck in the net.
Brittany Batterman was awarded the game MVP.

Game 2 on Saturday morning was against our league rivals the West Grey Warriors.
The Warriors scored early in the 1st, but Erica McComb tied it up midway through the 2nd with the help of Ashlyn Mackison and Astelle Wardell.
It looked like it would end in a tie, but with a minute left on the clock and the puck covered at our net by Tatem Edwards and almost the entire REBELS line (with no whistle to be heard)...somehow the West Grey forward managed to dig it out of the pile and sneak it into our net.  That's the way it ended, 2 - 1 Warriors.
Jessica Moran was awarded the game MVP.

Game 3 on Saturday afternoon ended in a 2 - 2 TIE with the Kent County Fillies.
All 4 goals were scored in the 1st period, and both REBELS goals were scored by Grace Kivell assisted by Kirsten Sutter and Jessica Moran.
It was a well played game by both teams with the 2nd and 3rd going back and forth with plenty of scoring opportunities, but neither Hannah or the Fillies goalie was about to give up another goal.
Grace Kivell and Hannah Mustard shared the honour of game MVP.

After a week off, the girls begin their OWHA Provincial Playdowns in Owen Sound at the Rec Centre on Saturday at 3:45pm.  Our girls will be wearing orange ribbons on their helmets to honour Owen Sound's assistant coach Kevin Paupst who passed away suddenly last week.  Money raised at the 50 / 50 draw will be put into a trust fund for Kevin's daughters.

Come show your support and cheer on these hard working girls!
