Atom LL Participate in Clifford Tournament
The Barrys Construction Atom LL Rebels spent a cold Saturday in Clifford at the annual Atom fun tourney.
Facing the #1 ranked Atom team in the WOAA, the Rebels played the Blythe Brussels Bulldogs (11-0 this year) in their first game. Curtis Wade scored first, putting the Bulldogs on their heels for the entire first period.
The 2nd and 3rd periods were very close in passing and play, however the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on the power play and scored 3 goals for the 3-1 win.
In game #2 the Rebels faced the Walkerton Capitals.
Dalan Frook scored our only goal in a close 3-1 loss.
In game #3 we faced the Wingham Ironmen...the ONLY team to defeat the Blythe Bulldogs.
It was a tight game with end-to-end action with Wesley Houston and Dillon Fry scoring goals for the Rebels.
The Ironmen answered on the power-play and tied the game.
We were scoreless through an exciting overtime period and remained tied.
A shootout decided the game, with an Ironmen player tapping in a nice backhand.
The Rebels came away with a trophy for 8th place out of 10 teams. We've certainly shown the southern loop that the smaller northern teams have some skills.
