The TCDMHA Gaviller and Co. Bantam C Rebels girls kicked off their OWHA
Provincial run for gold in Ottawa with a 5-1 victory over Picton this morning.
Abby Terpstra opened the scoring for Picton early in the second. Emily Moore answered back for the Rebels 18 seconds later with an unassisted goal and that opened the flood gates for the Rebels. Moore would get another a minute and a half later assisted by Rachel Aitcheson and Grace Kuhl. Morgan Williamson also scored 2 for the Rebels, both assisted by Katie Brancati and Haleigh Weppler. Aitcheson added one to round the score at 5, assisted by Grace Kuhl.
The Rebels came up against their Silver Stick rivals the Ilderton Jets in game 2. Katie Brancati started things off for the Rebels near the end of the first assisted by Rachel Aitcheson and Shannon Stryker. Ilderton responded 2 minutes later with a goal by Amy Zavits assisted by Kristen Goor to tie things up. Taylor Skelton put one in for the Jets mid way through the second. Kristen Goor, Taryn Kennedy and Lauren Kennedy each added one for the Jets in the third. The Rebels fought hard, but were only able to put one more in the net with a shot from Haleigh Weppler and the Rebels lost 5-2.
Game 3 is scheduled for 12:15 Saturday afternoon against Flamborough. Good luck Rebels!
