The TCDMHA Gaviller and Company Bantam C Rebel Girls have seen a lot of ice in the last few weeks.
They are up against Kincardine in a best 2 out of 3 series, competing for a spot at the OWHA provincial championships in Ottawa. It's been a fierce battle. The Rebels were in Kincardine on Feb.21st for game 1. Emily Moore got ahold of the puck near the end if the second period and managed to find the back of the net to put the Rebels ahead 1-0. Kincardine gave then a run for their money, but the Rebels held their ground for a 1-0 victory. Game 2 was in Chatsworth last Sunday. The Rebels scored within the first 2 minutes and things were looking good till the third. Tori Hodgins, Ashley McConnell and Rainor Kuz answered back for Kincardine to lead them to a 3-1 win. Game 3 was back in Chatsworth last Tuesday night. Shannon Stryker started things off for the Rebels right off the draw. Rainor Kuz would answer back for Kincardine a few minutes later. Both side battled hard, but the game would end in a 1-1 tie forcing a game 4 in Tiverton this Monday March 4th at 7pm. Rebels fans would like to wish their team the best of luck!
The Bantam Rebels also participated in their WOAA year end tournament this past weekend. The girls came out strong with a 6-0 victory over Mildmay on Friday night. Carly Cook was on fire with 2 goals and 2 assists. Shannon Stryker, Rachel Aitcheson, Haleigh Weppler and Skylar Golem each added one. Cearia Hiemstra added another shutout to her season. The Rebels were up against Blyth/Brussels on Saturday morning. The girls held their ground for 2 periods, but the 3rd saw Emily Mitchell and Haley Bowen score for Blyth/Brussels leaving the Rebels with a 2-0 loss. The Rebels faced West Grey on Sunday morning. Emma Eckenswiller scored 2 for West Grey, while Jessica Shantz and Aislyn Hagan each added one. Morgan Williamson popped one in for the Rebels midway through the third, but it wasn't enough and the Rebels lost 4-1.
The Bantam girls would like to thank our PeeWee Rebels for all their support and wish them luck on Monday and Tuesday as they finish off their second round of provincial playdowns. Go Rebels Go!
