Rebels Hosted the Ironmen on Saturday Afternoon:
Riding a three game unbeaten streak into Saturdays game the TCDMHA Air-Tech Mechanical Rebels looked to
extend that streak against a tough squad from Wingham.
The first period started like a heavyweight fight with both teams taking
some shots to find a weakness in the defense. At about the 5 minute
mark the Rebels landed the first scoring blow off the stick of Clayton
Wahtke assisted on a really nice pass by Evan Longland. One Minute
latter Evan Kuhl put one in on an unconventional pass from Jacob Roney,
that's using your head Evan. The boys took the lead into the second up
by 2.
The second period was all Rebels hockey scoring early and often on an
out manned team from Wingham who had no answers for the Rebels
fore-check. At the 14 minute mark Will McNabb scored a nice one
assisted By Jacob Roney and Luke Miller. At the 12 minute mark his
second of the game Evan Kuhl fired one by the Wingham tender assisted by
Evan Longland. One minute latter Evan Kuhl completed the hat-trick
assisted by Austin Kuhl . With about two minutes remaining in the
period Jacob Roney got in on the scoring action assisted by Will McNabb
and Evan Kuhl. The Rebels took a 6 to 0 lead into the intermission.
The Third period was slightly less dominated by the Rebels but they kept
the pressure on and scored early in the third to go up by 7 on his 4th
of the day, Evan Kuhl assisted by Austin Kuhl and Jacob Roney. At the
10 minute mark Wingham finally got one by Ryley McLeod on a tipped point
shot to cut the gap to 6 but that's as close as they would get. Final
Score 7 to 1 Rebels on some strong tending and great offense. Shots
favoured the Rebels 38 to 16.
