First Round Win:
The TCDMHA Rebels took on the Shallow Lake Lakers today at 2 pm in hopes of
sweeping them away...
Keeping with theme of the previous two games the action went back and forth for the better part of the first period. The Rebels got on the scoresheet early on a nice pinch by Austin Kuhl and a pass by Matt Woodroffe that got to Nathan Schwartz who put it by the Shallow Lake tender. the boys took a 1 to 0 lead into the second.
Early on in the second while on a power play the Lakers buried one on a goal mouth scramble. A few minutes later Luke Miller and Josh Blackwell managed to headman the puck to Jacob Roney who's knuckleball from the blue line found the back of the net. This was a bit more of a spirited affair which saw a number of trips to the penalty box on both sides.
Holding a one goal lead was going to be tough in the third as you knew the Lakers were going to come out firing on all cylinders. The Rebels put on a big fore-check in the third and held play in the offensive zone for an extended period of time. The seconds ticked down on the clock but the Rebels would not bend. In the last 2 minutes the boys blocked 5 or 6 shots and have the bruises to prove it. The final horn went and the boys nailed their 6 win in a row and a sweep of the Lakers.
Full marks to Shallow Lake they played hard and never gave up it was a fun series to watch. ( all three games being decided by one goal) The Rebels wish them the best of Luck in their WOAA playoffs.
