Minto Tournament Champions
The boys traveled to Minto a couple weekends back and opened the tourney against Mount Forest. Mount Forest was a fairly good size squad and we knew we would have our hands full.

Right out of the gate our guys made the most of the chances they had in the opposing teams zone. We opened up early with a decent goal on our very first shot on net. Our next goal had some help when the mount Forest player tipped a centering attempt past his own goalie. The boys were consistent and scored two goals each period to win 6 to 3. Ryley had a great game facing 30 plus shots.
Game two was against a small fast squad from West Lincoln. This was a really tightly contested game with both teams getting a good amount of chances. West Lincoln opened the scoring, but wee soon responded keeping things knotted up through the opening two frames. The third was more of the same we took a two to one lead only to give up one to West Lincoln. With about 4 minutes left the boys took the lead for good. But it sure was a fun 4 minutes of hockey to watch as West Lincoln put the pressure on. The Final was 3 to 2 for the good guys and we were off to the finals.
Our opponents were the Bulldogs from Blyth- we have played them twice this year and split the series so we knew we were in tough. This game was a little more wide open then our past meetings. We got going early and and kept a nice two goal cushion through each period until things got tight in the third the bulldogs weren't going away quietly as they got within one with a couple minutes to go and pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. the boys stayed strong and managed to hold off the assault. Tourney Champs with a 5 to 4 victory. Just a great day guys and you should be very proud of the total team effort. The big Trophy is proudly on display at the Chatty arena and David Harrison has offered to Autograph memorabilia for $5 a signature.
