Rebels vs. Mad Dogs:
On Saturday afternoon the Air-Tech Mechanical Rebels hosted the undefeated Minto mad Dogs in Chatsworth. Minto came out flying playing an aggressive forechecking style.

They opened the scoring early in the first on a bit of a goal
mouth scramble sliding one by Ryley MacLeod. The boys started to settle
down a bit and got some decent scoring chances on the Minto netminder,
but could not solve him in the first period. Minto managed another late
period goal on a real nice shot that went top shelf and took a 2 to 0
advantage to the second.

The second was more of the same from the first period with the two teams
trading some great scoring chances and stepping up the intensity along
the boards. Ryley MacLeod held the boys in the game turning aside a
number of tough shots and stoning three breakaway attempts with some
nice net-minding. Shots were fairly equal and you could tell the Rebels
were starting to get frustrated not be able to beat the Minto goalie.
The Rebels went into the intermission down by 2 and looking to find some
words of encouragement from the coaches to get them going.

The boys had some work to do in the Third first killing two penalties
that resulted in a minute of 5 on 3 hockey. Both were killed, great job
by the penalty kill! The speed of the game really started to pick up
and the Rebels were buzzing around the Minto net. At about the 7
minute mark the momentum flipped when Matt Woodroffe tucked one under
the Minto tender on a real nice effort behind the net by Nathan Schwartz
and Wyatt Sweiger. The pressure was now officially on and at the 4 and
a half minute mark on one of the nicest passing plays and goals of the
season Evan Kuhl fired one over the Minto net-minders shoulder on two
nice passes that stretched the length of the ice from Will Mcnabb and
Clayton Wathke. Back and forth the game went each team trading chances
with the best coming with only a few seconds left off the stick of Evan
Kuhl. It was not to be and the boys settled with a come from behind
tie. Shots favoured the Rebels 25 to 23.

Nice work everyone and great job Ryley for keeping things tight, next
game is Thursday night in Shallow lake and hopefully we will get a few
banged up bodies back on the ice for that tilt.
