Something to build on:
The Air-Tech Mech. Bantam Reps. rolled onto the ice for their first game action of the season against
a strong squad from Mildmay. From the drop of the puck the fans were entertained
with some strong action at both ends of the arena. Ryley MacLeod played well between
the pipes the entire game.
The first period was scoreless and the shots came in at 7 to 4 in favour of Mildmay. The second period was almost identical to the first highlighted by some strong hits and fast action. Mildmay opened the scoring at 11:16 of the second but was quickly answered by Evan Kuhl on a nice set up from Josh Blackwell and James Early. Mildmay took the lead again at 5:13 of the second and that's how the period ended Mildmay up 2 to 1. Shots after the second were 18 to 8 in favour of Mildmay.
After the break the boys came out flying in what I thought was there strongest period of the game. Unfortunately a bad bounce lead to another Mildmay goal and the boys found themselves down by two. But never fear the boys kept the pressure on and got back to within one on Evan's second of the game. The boys kept battling and had few nice chances but unfortunately could not crack the Mildmay tender again. Mildmay added one late in the game to ice the Rebels. Final score 4 to 2 for the visitors and shots favoured Mildmay 23 to 11.
Great effort from the boys they battled hard and kept things really interesting for the entire game. Next action is Sunday in Blyth. Keep up the hard work guys it was entertaining to watch!
