BUSY WEEKEND FOR THE BOYS!
The TCDMHA Harold Sutherland Pee Wee Rep team had a
busy weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's game had us traveling up to Lion's Head for an afternoon match against the Bruce Peninsula Wild. The flu bug had hit the Rebels, so they had to go with 9 skaters against their 13. Owen Torrie volunteered to help out the defense and didn't miss a beat.
The Bruce Pen. goalie did a great job stopping everything that was thrown at him. TCDMHA finally broke the 0-0 tie mid way through the 3rd period by a goal from Evan Mielhausen assisted by Josh Batterman and Dakota Rody. Another went in a few minutes later to give the Rebels a 2 goal cushion. The goal was scored by Reid Gill, assisted by Nathan Schwartz and Owen Torrie. Final score 2-0
Sunday's game had us back home in Keady for a rematch against the Durham Huskies. Everyone was back in the lineup for this one with some still looking a little green. It was a spirited affair with players from both teams getting breaks, 2 minutes at a time.
The Rebels scored twice in the 1st period with goals from Josh Batterman and Reid Gill, assists went to Josh Blackwell and Owen Torrie. Durham came back in the 2nd with 2 of their own to knot the game at 2. The Huskies scored again before getting into penalty trouble letting TCDMHA get the lead back with 2 power play goals from Nathan Schwartz, assisted by David Harrison and Matt Woodroffe, and Reid Gill's second of the game. Durham didn't give up though and evened the score once more with just over 2 minutes left in the game, going home with a tie for their effort. Final score 4-4
