PeeWee Advance to Gregg Division Championship
The TCDMHA Harold Sutherland Construction PeeWee Rep hosted the Durham Huskies in an exciting match-up for their final WOAA Round Robin playoff game on Sunday March 4th in Keady.
The excitement started just 19 seconds into the game when Josh Batterman assisted by Evan Mielhausen and Austin Kuhl opened the scoring for the Rebels. With back and forth action that was the only goal to be scored during the 1st period.
The ice must have been a little slower to start the 2nd... it took the Rebels 33 seconds into that frame before Josh Blackwell assisted by Batterman and Mitch McComb found the back of the net. Owen Torrie notched the 3rd goal for the Rebels assisted by Nathan Schwartz and David Harrison to head into intermission with the Rebels leading 3-0. Durham had chances but strong goal tending by Ty Mountain kept the Huskies off the scoreboard.
With a 3 goal lead the Rebels were maybe feeling a little too comfortable in this game and mid way through the 3rd the Huskies took charge scoring 2 goals in 2.5 minutes to bring them within 1. The Huskies wanted this game but Rebels settled back in to their game and held them off with the game ending 3-2 for the Rebels and advancing them to the WOAA Gregg Division championship against either Kincardine or Ripley.
The Harold Sutherland Construction PeeWee's will participate in the Goderich Young Canada week tournament during March Break as well as the championship series.
