BANTAM B FALL FEST CHAMPIONS!
The Ladies traveled for their first away tournament of the season for some team building and good hockey! 

  •  Game 1 was against Georgina Golden Hawks.  The Rebels were a bit slow out of the gate and the first period remained scoreless.  The second was when the scoring got started when Summer Roney was able to get one past the goaltender assisted by Georgia Rutter and Abby Watson.  Then in the third the team was able to net another 4 goals.  Tara Meikle scored twice assisted by Jayden Thalen and Georgia Rutter then Alex Nicholls scored assisted by Brooke Farrow and the last goal was scored by Maizy Hutchinson unassisted Final score was 5-1

 

  • Game 2 was a few hours later against South Huron Sabers and this game would prove to be a close one!  With South Huron scoring first early in the first period the Rebels were going to have to work hard to come from behind.  Meikle scored assisted by Farrow to tie the game 1-1 but South Huron was quick to reply to take the lead again.  With 3:11 left in the third Jenna Bridge scored unassisted to end the game in a 2-2 tie. The team was done for the day and played again on Saturday

 

  • Game 3 was against Wallageburg Lakers and the girls were able to seal the win of 2-0.  Scoring for the Rebels was Jayden Thalen assisted by Bridge and Meghan Prentice assisted by Bridge.  Laura Naves earned her first shut out of the weekend.  This placed the Rebels in 2nd place in their pool to play against Kitchener in the crossover game who was 3rd in the other pool.The Team now waited to see who was in first place the rebels or South Huron.  They were tied for points 5 point each, head to head they tied, goals for and against were tied and it came down to least amount of goals let in.  South Huron was in first and we were in second

    This put us against Kitchener in the crossover game.  Kitchener played hard and the girls didn’t give up much room for the opposing team.  The Rebels were able to win the game 3-0 over the Lady Rangers.  Scoring for the Rebels was Meikle with a double and Prentice with a single – all unassisted.  Naves earned her second shutout of the weekend.

 

  • This put the Rebels against the first-place team in the other pool, The Sarnia Sting! This game would prove to go to the bitter end!  Sarina was able to score first late in the second period.  It wasn’t long after Jenna Bridge with her speed was able to sink one into the net assisted by Alex Nicholls this score would remain 1-1 and force the game into overtime.  It was a 5-minute overtime 3 on 3 with stellar saves by out goaltender and the girls pushing themselves they finally were able to score with 12 second left in the overtime.  Jenna Bridge scored the goal to earn herself the double assisted by Meghan Prentice.  This win put the Rebels in the final game at 2:15 with a rematch against South Huron Sabers!

  • The team knew that they were going to have to play hard if they were going to take this win and they proved to do just that.  The Sabers were first to score but not long after Meghan Prentice tied it up with an unassisted goal.  In the second Summer Roney was able to net a goal assisted by Alex Nicholls and Maizy Hutchinson the Saber were able to score another goal to tie the game and before the second was over Jenna Bridge to take the lead, Bridge would score again in the third to finished the game and the Bantam B Championship 4-2.  Congrats to the team! Well done, you are a small but strong team of 12!
