Road trip!
The Howell Transport TCDMHA Midget LL Rebels went to their first tournament this past week, playing three games in Schomberg on Wednesday.  With bellies full of turkey, and five days’ worth of holiday chillaxin’ under their belts, the hometown boys took to the ice, serving up some deluxe game play to the delight of fans who had travelled to watch them in action.

The menu for the day included a main course of fun-filled hockey, with a generous serving of team bonding for dessert.  Adding to the gourmet experience was the arrival of defenceman Brandon Lindstrom who had spent the first half of the hockey season in Finland training with their national team (or something like that).  Top to bottom, and front to back, the team’s enthusiasm was evident; each and every player worked hard along the boards, battled fearlessly in the corners, and dug deep to find it even when they were dog-tired.

Notable moments included stunning goaltending by veteran netminder, Devin Early, and AP goalie, Jason Rudolph-MacLeod.  Goals and assists went to Josh Currie (one goal, one assist), Jake Hartman (one goal, one assist), Talmon Ash (one goal – and technically one assist, since he batted in his own rebound), Tiki Stockwell (one goal), Chris Hardman (one assist), and Garrett McNabb (two goals, including a boomer from centre ice that found the back of the net).  It seems that Garrett has finally found an arena big enough to handle his canon fire.  Other treasured memories included Tiki Stockwell earning his first trip to the sin-bin in his TCDMHA career and defenseman Duncan Martin making his season (career?) debut as forward, featuring a fantastic breakaway skate with the puck that left his opponents in the dust.

As they always do, the Rebels demonstrated their renowned gentlemanly play and their love for the game of hockey, representing TDCMHA in legendary fashion.  Rebels fans who travelled from far-and-wide to cheer on the boys were rewarded with three great games of entertaining hockey.  Well done, Rebs!
