Attention, Fans!
The Howell Transport TCDMHA Midget LL Rebels officially have a win streak going!  With a 3-2 victory against the Saugeen Shores 1 team on Sunday, the Rebs are inching their way up the standings as they knock off higher-placed teams.

Saugeen Shores opened the scoring just inside the first period, but that was just the splash of cold water the Rebels needed to break out their brand of shutdown defensive play and stop any further scoring. Front to back, from forwards to netminder, the Rebels delivered.  The Storm would remain shutout through the rest of the first, all of the second, and a good part of the third before adding only one more.

In the meantime, the Rebels scoring machine revved up, and a Josh Currie solo effort put their first point on the board.  Four minutes later, Josh did it again, this time on a pass from defenceman, Hunter Courtney, who was playing a superb game.  Fast forward to the third, and Josh Currie put home goal number three, also assisted by Hunter, and set up by AP forward, Pearce Lacey.  “Hats off” to Josh, whose unstoppable drive and passion for the game of hockey earned him the hattrick!

Things were looking good for the Rebels in the dying moments of the game, but then the unthinkable happened.  With just a slim one-goal lead, the Rebels were called on a two-minute penalty at the 1:48 mark of the third.   Now down a man, the boys were faced with playing shorthanded for the balance of the game against an opponent determined to stop at nothing to tie it up.   In a nail-biter of a finish, the Rebels stood tall against the relentless Storm, going into defensive mode and shutting down all attempts by their opponents to even the score.  Great job, Rebels!  A well-deserved “W”!!!
