Rebels take on division leaders with bulldog determination
When the Howell Transport TCDMHA Midget LL Rebels played Hanover and AEMHA last week, their opponents occupied the first and second places in the north division.  The Rebs knew that they had their work cut out for them playing the top of the division, and in both matches, the Rebels brought their pitbull mentality and legendary steely determination to the rink.

The game against league-leaders, Hanover, in Hanover on November 5 was a challenge.  Despite repeated efforts to find a crack in the Hanover defence, the Rebels could not see a way to unlock their opponents, and fell behind two goals in the first period, one in the second period, and then one in the third before a very determined Josh Currie found the key to open Hanover’s lock on the game, scoring unassisted just under the two-minute mark of the third period.  The shutout-breaker came too late to salvage the game, but proved that the Rebels can break through the Hanover barrier.  The boys are looking forward to the upcoming rematch on home ice in a few weeks.

In the next game against Arran-Elderslie in Chesley later in the week, the story was quite a bit different.  Although AEMHA opened the scoring, the Rebels came back with two unanswered goals - one by Duncan Martin (unassisted) and the other by Chris Hardman (assisted by Theodore Stockwell) to take the lead.  Going into the second intermission, the good guys kept the lead at 2-1, holding back their opponents largely due to stellar goaltending and jaw-dropping saves by netminder, Devin Early.  Arran-Elderslie tied the score with just under two minutes left in the second period, and with just over nine minutes left in the game, they scored again.  The Rebels fought hard to even it up, but the clock was their enemy, running out before they could close the gap.  The Rebels meet A-E one more time in the regular season, and the anticipated rematch will be the perfect opportunity to turn the tables.
