Rebels Come Back from 2 Goal Deficit to Take the WIN
The Barry's Construction Atom LL#2 squad were back in action Monday night as they travelled to Tara to take on the Ice Dogs.
The Rebels were fired up as they hit the ice, they wanted that puck and showed great determination to get it to the net. Both goalies including Rebels goalie Wyatt Garren made huge saves not allowing anything past them for two full periods of play. However, the Ice Dogs struck first very early in the third. And then just a few minutes later buried another one. The Rebels regrouped, and got themselves pumped up. The "triple J" line got things going, with Jimmy Couch scoring the goal with passes from Jackson Greig and Jake Oatt. The fans went wild, and the players continued to battle hard. They were rewarded just 2 minutes later as Andersen McComb muscled for the puck in front of the net, spun around and fired it past the Ice Dogs netminder. We were all tied at 2, with the time ticking away on the clock (even when the whistle blew!) Tight Rebels defence by Karissa Rasmussen, Xander Kirk, Finn McKee and Logan Curtis shut down the top skaters not allowing anything by them. Ashton Spencer winning key faceoffs allowed the Rebels to get the puck down to the offensive zone. Once there, the puck was kept in at the blue line by Karissa Rasmussen and cycled around to Jackson Greig who once again found the open player and McComb scores his second of the game! This would prove to be the game winner, because even with 2.5 minutes left in the game we were not giving up that puck. The Rebels controlled the play right to the final buzzer. Great teamwork all around, what a comeback!
