Great Weekend of Hockey
The Barry's Construction Atom LL#2 Rebels were up bright and early Saturday morning. They didn't see any deer but they took care of the Wolves!

The Rebels began the Dave Taylor Memorial Tournament in Paisley facing the Ripley Wolves. Both teams hit the ice flying, and the Rebels forward Ashton Spencer got the scoring started as Karissa Rasmussen battled at the blue line and got the puck to the net for him. Less than 2 minutes later Anderson McComb hustled to keep the puck in the zone, passed to teammate Jackson Greig just behind the net, who connected with Jimmy Couch in the slot who with a quick one-timer found the back of the net. Tic Tac Toe Rebels are up 2-0! Just a few shifts later Jake Oatt used his strength leaning on his stick and banging the puck through the Wolf pack that surrounded him. Greig was able to grab the loose puck and fire another one past the Ripley netminder. Greig would add another marker top shelf this time in the third period as he was sent in alone with a great heads up lead pass by Karissa Rasmussen. Ripley would break the shut-out at 2:54 in the third period but that's all netminder Wyatt Garren would allow. Rebels win 4-1 and face Shallow Lake in Game 2!

Game 2
Another fantastic game by both teams, kept fans on the edge of their seats! Rebels are on the scoreboard first again with Andersen McComb heading to the net, stick on the ice and poking it past the Lakers goalie. Jackson Greig fired a bullet of a shot to put the Rebels squad up 2-0. Shallow Lake wasn't quitting though and came back with 2 of their own. Then the "triple J" line strikes for the Rebels. Jake Oatt pokes the puck up through the neutral zone, Jackson Greig picks it up and hustles towards the net, and takes the shot while Jimmy Couch follows up with the rebound and buries the second shot in the Lakers goal. Again, the Lakers are able to tie it up and we are heading to shoot-outs! Wyatt Garren denied all three Laker shooters! And Jackson Greig was the hero in game 2 going first to his back hand, then coming back to his forehand and deking the goalie right out of his pants to win the game and move the Rebels onto the Championship Game!

Game 3
The players were ready, game faces on, skates tied tight. With a boisterous crowd for both teams the Rebels took  to the ice to face the Goderich Sailors and Sailorettes. The fans were treated to another fabulous game, with end to end rushes, and great foot races as well as toe saves and top corner wristers. Jackson Greig broke away from the crowd at centre ice and beat the Goderich goaltender to put the Rebels on the scoreboard first less than a minute into the game. Unfortunately that's all the scoring the Rebels would see. The Goderich scoring began a minute later and they would add two more quick ones in less than 3 minutes. After that it was all Rebels, they dominated and controlled the game but just couldn't get on the scoreboard. Fantastic effort, fantastic games, fantastic weekend! Well Done Team! Congratulations on a great showing!
