3rd STRAIGHT SWEEP ... and 13th STRAIGHT WIN
HAPPY Valentine's Day indeed!
The 'Air-Tech Mechanical' BANTAM REP boys are celebrating the completion of their OMHA QUARTER-FINAL SERIES after their Game 3 WIN over the visiting Drayton Defenders tonight.
Both teams came out flying and the fast pace continued for 3 full 15 minute periods.
All 3 REBELS' lines played well and created many scoring opportunities.
Finally after 10 minutes of play, Calvin Stewart got a pass to Mitch Faust who carried the puck down along the boards, and sent it over to Hunter Schultz for a shot right on target at 4:32.
Just like the song lyrics ... it was a Dangle, Snipe and Celly for Austin McComb at 11:43 in the 2nd, assisted by Stewart and Austin King.
The boys kept the pressure on Drayton's net and Wyatt Golem caught their goalie off guard with a backhand into the net at 5:10, assisted by McComb.
Schultz got control of the puck after the faceoff at centre ... moved into the offensive zone and fired just under the glove, 8 seconds later at 5:02, for his 2nd of the game.
The Defenders started the 3rd off strong and got themselves on the board at 12:59, but McComb answered back a minute later with a beauty shot high glove side, for his 2nd of the game ... and what would be the final goal of the series, assisted by Jordan Beirnes.
The scoreboard did not reflect how even this match-up on the ice was, thanks to our talented goalie Lawson Cumming and his defensive lineup of Mitch Stevens, Jack Kivell, Curtis Wade, Cory Rasmussen, Danny Rourke and Jordan Beirnes who all played an incredible game.
Final Score: Rebels 5 - Defenders 1
The scheduling for the SEMI-FINAL SERIES with Norwich is underway and will likely be starting this weekend.
