The 'Air-Tech Mechanical' BANTAM REP boys travelled south for Game 2 and 3 of their series with Central Perth ... and finished it up today with another Shut-Out.
GAME 2 in Monkton - Thursday Jan. 26
The Rebels braved the snowy roads and made it worth the drive, coming home with the 5 - 2 WIN.
Hunter Schultz was on fire with a goal and 4 assists on the night.
Carson Torrie opened the scoring, assisted by
Schultz at 7:37.
Jack Kivell shot from the point,
Schultz got the puck behind the net and sent a back door pass to
Mitch Faust for the goal at 4:14.
Schultz shot and
Clay Kreuger deflected the puck into the net on a 4-on-4 at 9:20 in the 2nd, and then
Schultz picked up the pass from
Austin McComb and deked out both defencemen before he buried the puck top shelf at 3:35.
Even with the talented
Lawson Cumming working his magic in the Rebels' net, Central Perth did manage to score 2 power play goals, one in the 2nd and one in the 3rd. But that wouldn't be it for the Rebels ...
Schultz sent another pass over to
Faust and he buried the lone goal of the 3rd at 6:03.
Game 3 in Milverton - Sunday Jan. 29
This morning's sunshine made for a more relaxing drive, and again the boys made it worthwhile with an impressive 6 - 0 SHUT OUT.
After taking a hit from behind in the final seconds of the last game, Kinger came back today and earned himself a hat-trick.
Wasting no time,
Jake Moran fought his way into the zone, fired a hard shot along the ice and
Kreuger was there for the rebound at 8:27.
Calvin Stewart sent the pass out from behind the net to
Schultz and he fired a low one in past the goalie at 7:08.
Jordan Beirnes shot from the point and
Austin King buried the rebound at 3:17 to end the 1st up by 3.
Early in the 2nd,
Stewart chipped the puck up to
Faust in our zone and he "dipsy doodled down the ice and sent a backhand beauty into the net", with an assist going to
Mitch Stevens at 12:55 ... and just 16 seconds later Wyatt Golem sent to puck over to Kinger for a shot top corner at 12:39.
Central Perth came on strong after those quick goals and Lawson Cumming put on a show, stopping a barrage of shots and rebounds. Nothing was getting into his net today!
The final goal for the REBELS came on a 4-on-4 early in the 3rd, as Kinger put in the rebound from McComb's shot on net at 13:46, assist going to Beirnes.
Thanks to these stylish hockey moms for their play-by-play of these last 2 games. It was almost as good as being there.
The boys move onto
Round 3 "The Quarter Finals" and the way it's going, it looks like they may be facing Drayton who is up 4 points on Lucknow.
GO GET'EM REBELS !
