Thursday December 1st found the two Atom Local League teams face off against each other in an exciting home town match. The folks at Barry's Construction, (generous sponsor of both teams), would be proud to see the epic game of hockey that was played wearing their jerseys.
The first period was hard, as LL2 got on the board early and established a lead that they would maintain throughout the game. Our boys fought through that period though, with the determination we have come to expect of them. Our Defensive crew of Jordan Brown, Jeffrey Rodger, John Farmer and Sheldon Rodger skated themselves to exhaustion to keep some of LL2's relentless pressure off of netminder Danny Wallis. John in particular stopped many a play at the blue line with some carefully timed stick work.
Although the excellent LL2 defense managed to keep the potent offensive line of Sam Potter, Connor Thede and Sasha McMurray scoreless in this game, the offensive line of Felix Moore, Trevor McCarthy and Jackson Gordon put LL1 on the board. They got two goals in the 2nd, each by Gordon assisted in both cases by McCarthy. Trevor got his own goal unassisted at the start of the 3rd, bringing his points for the day to 3. After that it was all LL2, who got 4 goals in the 2nd and 2 more in the 3rd, for a final score of 8-3. Congrats to LL2 on their win!
