The Barry’s Construction Atom LL#1 Rebels fought a tough battle Friday night against the Shallow Lake Lakers.
Defencemen Johnathan Farmer, Sheldon Rodger and Jeffrey Rodger worked valiantly to contain Shallow Lake sharpshooter #14 (3G,1A), who still managed to score twice in the first period, giving Shallow Lake an early lead.
The Rebels offensive team of Trevor McCarthy, Jackson Gordon, Conner Thede, Sam Potter, Jordan Brown and Sasha McMurray worked hard to keep the pressure on Shallow Lake minder in the second period but were unable to get on the board, with the period ending with a score of 5-0 and with the loss of Farmer due to injury.
Our Rebels came out huge in the third period, despite their fatigue. The Rodger brothers were missing their line mate, but worked like troopers to back up a focused and determined Danny Wallis, who had some huge saves in net in the third. Sam Potter stepped up at the 11 minute mark, breaking the shutout with our first goal of the night. Jordan Brown followed that up with a goal two minutes later, assisted by Gordon and McMurray, to wrap the game up with a final score of 6-2.
Our boys are shaping up to be a powerful force, displaying great teamwork, cooperation, clean play and hard work. This season is looking like it will be a great one!!!
