In game 3 of the 'Country Charm Mennonite Furniture' BANTAM C girls' O.W.H.A. Playdowns, the REBELS came out shooting!
They needed a win against the visiting Owen Sound Ice Hawks to keep them alive in the race for Provincials.
They've set their sights on Provincials and are looking to make that goal a reality...one game at a time!
It was a full team effort tonight, starting with Tatem Edwards in net ... her 3 defence in front of her ... and our 2 lines of offence who kept the Ice Hawks' goalie very busy through 3 full periods.
It wasn't until 3:11 in the 2nd period with a 5 on 3, that the REBELS got on the board. Morgan Moran sent a D to D pass across to Kenna McKee and she found Jade Gilchrist holding her ground by the net, ready to bury the puck.
The girls kept the pressure on and were rewarded at 7:20 in the 3rd period when Kirsten Sutter tipped in the shot from Jade ( assisted by Grace Kivell ).
Grace and Jade set Kirsten up one more time at 3:58, and let us all breathe a bit easier. The girls were short handed for the final 2 minutes and Tatem made some key saves to guarantee her shut-out.
Great Game Ladies! You definitely deserved this one!!
The girls head to Teeswater and Wingham this Saturday for their W.O.A.A. Year End Tournament.
They will be facing Saugeen Shores, South Bruce and Mount Forest in the top 'Maroon Division'.
