Out of Luck (and Skaters) at Silver Stick . . .
It turned out to be a rough weekend for the 'Country Charm Mennonite Furniture' Bantam C Girls at the Saugeen Shores 'Caitlyn Cobean Memorial' Silver Stick Tournament.

The girls went into the tournament with only 8 skaters (due to illness), but were lucky enough to recruit Ally Airdrie and Brooklyn Mole from our Bantam HL team to help cover the defense in Friday's game.

Friday 2:45pm - Game 1 vs East Lambton Eagles vs_East_Lambton_Eagles.jpg 0 - 0 TIE
Ashlynn Stephenson wasn't letting anything into her net and with the help of Lindsay Elliot, Kenna McKee, Ally and Brooklyn on D ... Nothing did get in!
Unfortunately, the offense wasn't as lucky (not for lack of trying) ... they just couldn't buy a goal.

Saturday 1:00pm - Game 2 vs South Bruce Blades South_Bruce_Blades.png0 - 0 TIE
With her energy returning, Morgan Moran rejoined Lindsay and Kenna on defense and assisted Tatem Edwards in keeping her net clean too.
After being hit in Friday's game, Kirsten Sutter bounced back and came out flying ready to take on our league rivals.  Despite every effort, the puck just wouldn't go in the net for either line of offense, leaving the scoreboard empty in this game too.

Saturday 7:15pm - Game 3 vs Sarnia Ladies Sting  vs_Sarnia.jpg 2 - 0 LOSS
The girls came out strong and outskated the Sting for most of the game, but an unlucky goal was pushed in midway through the 1st period to give Sarnia the lead.
Once again, it didn't matter how many pucks were shot on net, we just couldn't make them count and were shut-out again.  Our girls were taking a beating with body checks and tripping not being called on the Sting . . . until one sent Morgan into the boards and put her out of the game with 4 minutes left.
Ashlynn headed to the bench for the final 2 minutes and unfortunately with 30 seconds left on the clock, the Sting managed to get the puck loose and down into our empty net.

That was it for the REBELS.  The girls finished 3rd in their pool, but it wasn't enough to move on to the semis.
They have a couple weeks to regroup and recover before their 1st OWHA Playdown game.

Good Luck REBELS!
