Midget Girls Bring Home Silver!
The TCDMHA Town & Country Garden Centre Midget Rebel Girls participated in the Saugeen Shores Silver Stick tournament this weekend. Their 2-1 victory over Kincardine on Friday afternoon and the 4-0 win against Milverton clinched their spots in the semi-finals.

Emily Moore scored the first goal on Friday, assisted by Amanda Zettle and Shannon Stryker popped in the second assisted by Kaitlin Brancati and Valerie Gibbons. Lauren Jolley put one passed Hiemstra to bring Kincardine within one, but that was all they would get. Hiemstra got the shutout against Milverton. Emily Moore found the back of the net twice, while Morgan Williamson and Sarah Bryans each chipped in one. Williamson, Carlie Cook, Mikkayla Longland and Kaitlin Brancati got the assists for the game.

The Rebels came up agains Ilderton in game 3. Ilderton scored first midway through the first, but Morgan Williamson answered back before the end of the period, assisted by Peyton McCauley. Things fell apart for the Rebels in the 3rd though and Ilderton scored 3 more for their 4-1 win.

This loss put the Rebels in second place, facing Lucknow-Wingham in the semi-finals Sunday morning. Emily Moore, assisted by Williamson, put the Rebels on the board with less that 2 mins to go in the first. It was a nail biter with fans on the edge of their seats for the next 2 periods, but the Rebels held the off for a 1-0 victory sending themselves to the championship game for a second crack at Ilderton.

Valerie Gibbons, assisted by Kailtin Brancati, put the Rebels on the board first halfway through the second. They were able to hold them off until early in the third when Abi Cyr tied it up. Taryn Kennedy put Ilderton ahead shortly after. The Rebels gave it their all, but were unable to come back and the game ended 2-1 for Ilderton, sending the Rebels home with the silver medal.

The Rebels would like to thank their fans for all their support this weekend want to congratulate our Peewee team on their silver medal and our Atoms for their gold medal victory today as well.

The midgets are now gearing up for provincial playdowns. Their first playdown game is this Wednesday night at 7:30 in Chatsworth against West Grey. Go Rebels Go!!
