Heartbreaker Number Two
The Kuhl Machine Shop Midget Rep Rebels lost in overtime in their OMHA semi-finals match-up. The Southwest Bullets won 5-4 to take a two game lead in this best of five series.
The Rebels opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal by Kai Hiemstra (assists by Connor McCauley and Joel Delleman). The Bullets replied with a goal of their own in the second period and then a go ahead goal to lead 2-1 heading into the third. Connor McCauley then scored for the Rebels (assist to Brendan Batterman) to even the score. Southwest scored again, followed by a goal for the Rebels' Joel Delleman (assisted by Austin Kuhl).
With only one minute remaining in regulation, the Bullets scored their fourth goal. The Rebels regrouped with a time-out and pulled their goalie to have a man advantage. It paid off as Delleman scored his second goal of the game (assists by McCauley and Morgan Ottewell). The game headed into overtime and half-way through the Bullets were able to score again.
Game three is in Glencoe on Friday, March 6th at 7 pm. The Rebels are next in action on Monday, March 2 when they face the Minto MadDogs in Chatsworth at 7:30 pm.
