Rebels take on reigning Silver Stick Champs
It was a C-O-L-D day to spend in an arena, but 'The Great Lakes Frame Co.' Atom Rep Rebels did what they could to heat up the ice in their rematch with the Minto Mad Dogs.
The Rebels started off strong and scored their first goal just 14 seconds into the game. Right off the face off, Jakob Moran got the puck to Pearce Lacey who fired a shot on the net and Austin King was ready and waiting to bury the rebound.
Minto followed with one of their own, right off the faceoff at centre just 6 seconds later! After that action, both goalies got settled in and kept the rest of the period scoreless.
Minto scored one in the second to take a 2 -1 lead heading into the 3rd.
Unfortunately the final score did not reflect the effort shown by the Rebels. The one highlight of the 3rd was when William Hoare got the puck over our blue line, and passed it to Jakob Moran who flew down and shot a beauty into the back of Minto's net.
In Silver Stick Champion style, the Mad Dogs managed to score 7 in the 3rd taking the game 9 - 2.
The Rebels host their local rivals Shallow Lake on Monday night in Keady. Wear your woolies and come cheer these hard working boys on.
