There was No Stopping "The CARSONs"
It was a BIG WIN for the Homelife Bayside Realty Atom AE Rebels Tuesday night.  They defeated the Saugeen Shores AE Storm 5 - 3 in Game 1 of the Neilson Division WOAA League Playoffs.
The Rebels came out shooting, but only found the net once in the 1st period as Carson Yost got a break-away and shot a beauty by the Storm goaltender at 8:30 - assists to Austin King and Clayton Johnson
The 2nd period was another story...

This time it was Carson Torrie who worked his magic in front of the net and scored at 7:51 - assists to Yost and King.  The Rebels managed to keep the action in the Storm's end for most of the period and a minute later Carson Torrie picked up the rebound on a shot from Chris Hardman and scored again at 6:31 - assist to Austin Waite
Incredibly, 20 seconds later Carson Yost picked up another rebound on Jakob Moran's shot and snuck it into the net at 6:13 - assist to King
Being down 4 - 0 in the middle of the 2nd...the Storm started to fight back.  Unable the clear the puck out of Rebels territory...Walker McNabb took a shot from the cluster in front of the net and managed to get the Storm on the board at 3:54 to end the period 4 - 1.
The 3rd period was full of end to end action and halfway through it, the Storm's Sam Flarity broke away leaving everyone behind and sailed down and buried the puck high in the net.  Francesca Alpajaro scored again at 4:09 and brought the Storm up to 3.
It was looking bad...with the Rebels short handed...the Storm pulled their goalie and had a 6 on 4 advantage.  The Rebels kept control and had a few near misses on the empty net too (in a race for the puck we even ended up with a couple of Rebels in the empty net, to the amusement of the crowd).  Back at full strength and determined to hit that net..Carson Torrie pulled it off at 00:25 to earn the hat-trick and secure the lead for the Rebels - assist to Austin Waite
The final score ... 5 - 3, in yet another amazing match-up with our favourite rivals, Saugeen Shores!

The boys have a busy weekend ahead!  Come out and cheer them on as they host:
Minto MadDogs @ 7:00pm Friday night  in Keady for Game 2 of the WOAA playoffs, and
Mariposa Lightning @ 3:15pm Saturday in Keady for Game 1 of the OMHA Quarter-Final playdowns.
