ReBeLs SWEEP the SERIES!
The Homelife Bayside Realty Atom AE Rebels defeated the Mitchell AE Meteors 3 - 2 in overtime on Saturday, to sweep the 6-point series 3 games straight.
The Rebels took an early lead, with Clayton Johnson firing a shot from the blue-line and scoring at 6:43. Carson Torrie managed to sneak another one into the net at 6:17 during a scramble in front of the net - assisted by Carson Yost.
The 2nd period was scoreless for the 3rd game in a row, and the Meteors came out flying in the 3rd.
Not going down without a fight, Mitchell came back with 2 goals in the 3rd, at 9:06 and 2:44 to tie the game and send it into overtime.
With the game being played in Desboro, neither team had home ice advantage. The Sudden Victory Overtime period was full of action, and desperation (Mitchell not wanting to be put out of the series, and the Rebels wanting to wrap it up in 3!) Austin Waite finally found the net with 3:45 left on the clock - assisted by The Carsons (Torrie & Yost).
The celebrating continued as the WOAA Atom AE - Group 4 & 5 Trophy was presented to the REBELS by TCDMHA Vice President - Vonnie Crawford.
