WINNING WeEkEnD for the ReBeLs!
The Homelife Bayside Realty Atom AE Rebels opened their 1st round of OMHA Playdowns on Saturday ... with a 5 - 1 win over the Mitchell AE Meteors on home ice in Keady.  It was a true team effort as the Rebels came out on top.  Chris Hardman scored first for the Rebels - assisted by Carson Torrie at 8:40 in the 1st period.  The 2nd period remained scoreless, but in the 3rd the Rebels spread out, played their positions, got their passes on target and put the puck in the net!

This is how it went down -
13:09 ... Jordan Beirnes fired from the blue line - assisted by Carson Torrie,
8:48 ... Carson Yost worked his magic at the net - assisted by Alex DeJong & Beirnes,
8:12 ... Austin King drove hard to the net - assisted by Jakob Moran,
5:18 ... Jakob Moran took a shot from the boards - assisted by Carson Yost.

12:19 ... Somehow David Rowland got a shot through the awesome defence and past Jason into the net.

Unfortunately, WINTER decided to blow in on Sunday ... and with half a day of worrying behind us, we all made the long, nasty drive to Mitchell.  The Rebels fans onhand were numerous (nobody wanted to drive alone) and anxious for a WIN!  They cheered loud (some more so than others ... we know who we are) and the boys did NOT disappoint!  They definitely made it worth the drive!
Not even a minute into the game, Carson Yost started the scoring by flipping in the rebound of Clayton Johnson's shot from the point - assisted by Alex DeJong at 9:13.
Standing his ground in front of the net, with his stick on the ice ... Alex DeJong netted his 1st of the year - assisted by Carson Torrie and Jordan Beirnes at 6:02.
Again there was a scoreless 2nd period, and Carson Torrie opened the 3rd with what ended up to be the final goal of the game - assisted by Alex DeJong and Jack Kivell at 13:25.
The final score was 3 - 0 ReBeLs!

Jason Rudolph - MacLeod didn't get worked too hard, as his defence was in control of the game, but when it counted ... he skillfully denied any shot the Meteors took, and earned himself the SHUT-OUT

The REBELS won the flip for Game 3, and will be hosting the Meteors (take note of the time and venue change) on Saturday January 26th, at 11:00am in DESBORO.
It is sure to be a great game, come out and support our Atom AE boys!  They put on quite a show!
