The Little Team That Could
It took a bit of patience and a lot of hard work but the Horton's Concrete Finishing Novice Rep Rebels are seeing the payoff of their hard work in the playoffs. The Rebels were able to pull off an exciting 2-1 victory in Tara against the Arran Elderslie Ice Dogs on Saturday to take the series 2 games to 1.

Hayden Wardell scored first for the rebels as they started right at the opening face off to push the puck into the Ice Dogs end and keep it there until Wardell's goal less than two minutes into the game. Nate Garrett make a great pass for the assist.

The Ice Dogs would tie the game midway through the third on a goal by Brett Hagan assisted by Liam Copping and Cameron Maus. 45 seconds later the Rebels would take the lead again as a scramble in front of the net lead to Garrett getting the goal. assisting on the goal were William Hoare and Maverick Lacey.

Conner Waite played awesome stopping 23 of 24 shots for the win.

On Friday night the Rebels travelled to Chesley for game two of the series. It was award fought game that went down to the wire but the Rebels came up short in a 5-4 loss. The Ice Dogs opened the scoring on a goal by Brett Hagan, unassisted. The Rebels would tie the game in the second period when Dakota McComb fired a shot in off a pass from Colby McComb. 20 seconds later the Rebels would take the lead on a goal from Maverick Lacey with the assist going to William Hoare. The Ice Dogs would score twice before the end of the period taking the lead 3-2. Jakob Frtitz score both of the goals for the Ice Dogs the first was assisted by Ryan Calhoun and the second was unassisted.

In the third the Ice Dogs would score early to take a 4-2 lead as Liam Copping would score assisted by Colton Legge. The Rebels would pull to within one again on a goal by Hayden Wardell with assists from Hoare and Nate Garrett. Midway through the third the Ice Dogs would take a two goal lead again on an unassisted goal from Jakob Fritz ( for the hat trick). Hoare would bring the Rebels to within one again with three minutes left. Garrett and Lacey would assist on the goal. The Rebels were not able to complete the comeback making the final 5-4 Ice Dogs.
