FLESHERTON, ON – The Township of Chatsworth Mueller Plumbing Contractors U13 Rebels staged a dramatic comeback at home on Saturday afternoon, battling the Huron-Bruce Blizzard White to a thrilling 6-6 draw in OMHA action. The tie moves the Rebels' early-season record to 1-1-1.
The scoring came fast and furious, setting the tone from the opening minute. Huron-Bruce struck first just 44 seconds in with Logan B. finding the back of the net. But the Rebels answered quickly, as Maverick H. tied the game at 1-1 at the 1:15 mark of the first period. The Blizzard pulled ahead again late in the frame thanks to Cal K., making it 2-1 heading into the second.
The middle frame was an offensive explosion, yielding six goals in total. The Rebels quickly knotted the score 2-2 just 16 seconds in with a goal from Owen B. However, the Blizzard responded with their own quick onslaught, getting tallies from Logan B. and two quick strikes from Kashton P. to jump out to a commanding 5-2 lead.
The Rebels refused to fold. Jase F. ignited the comeback, scoring back-to-back goals at 9:19 and 13:44 of the second period to bring the Rebels within one, ending the period down 5-4.
In the third, the early season scoring sensation continued his heroics. Fullerton opened the final period with his hat trick goal at 5:07, tying the game at 5-5. After Huron-Bruce momentarily took the lead back with a goal from Landon V., Fullerton netted his fourth of the game at 6:00, securing the hard-fought 6-6 tie for the home side.
With his spectacular four-goal performance, Jase Fullerton was the undisputed Player of the Game for the Rebels.
Following the spirited effort, Rebels Captain Carter D. shared his thoughts: “We played well, and I’m proud of our team. We have some things to work on, but overall it was a good game.”
