Rebels Drop Hard-Fought Battle in Lucknow
LUCKNOW, ON – The Township of Chatsworth Mueller Plumbing Contractors U13 Rebels tasted defeat for the first time this season, falling 2-1 to the Huron-Bruce Blizzard Grey in the second game of their OMHA campaign on Monday night in Lucknow.
The Rebels, fresh off a season-opening win on Sunday, found themselves down early after Huron-Bruce’s Chase S. lit the lamp at the 9:45 mark of the first period.
The second period saw the visiting Rebels respond with tenacity. Left winger Owen B. tied the game at 1-1 with a goal assisted by Atlas S. at 3:54, igniting hope for the Chatsworth squad.
The third period proved to be the deciding factor. With the teams trading chances on the larger Lucknow ice surface, it was Chase S. of the Blizzard who struck again at 14:35, netting the eventual game-winner.
Despite the late deficit, the Rebels refused to quit, with the final minutes featuring intense pressure in the Blizzard zone. However, the performance of the night arguably belonged to Rebels netminder Ryden M., who was outstanding in the third period, making several crucial, game-saving stops to keep the score within one and give his team a chance until the final buzzer. Ryden was deservingly named the Rebels’ Player of the Game.
Following the close contest, Rebels Head Coach Ryan Fullerton was proud of his team’s effort. "We kept right with them the whole time, one good bounce our way and this game is a tie. They played great out there on that big Lucknow ice".
The Township of Chatsworth Mueller Plumbing Contractors U13 Rebels (now 1-1-0) will look to get back into the win column this Saturday, October 25th, when they travel to Flesherton to take on the Huron-Bruce Blizzard White at 3:00 PM.
