    WINGHAM CELEBRATES 27years hosting Silverstick

Silver Stick is well known in Ontario and across the United States for hosting elite tournaments that allows girls and boys from all levels of hockey the opportunity to compete for the right to play in the International Silver Stick Finals Tournaments. The winners of the Regional Tournaments earn the right to participate in the Finals Tournaments and compete with other Regional winners from Ontario and the United States.

The first tournaments held 27 years ago in Wingham consisted of 8 teams in the “B” category and 8 teams in the “C” category for both the Midget and Atom Tournaments. Today there are 24 teams in the Midget Tournament and 24 teams in the Atom Tournament with games being played at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex as well as the Blyth Arena on the Saturday of the tournaments.

The Wingham Regional Midget and Atom Silver Stick tournaments have provided teams in the area the opportunity to compete for the right to advance to the International Silver Stick Finals. The winners of the “B” and “C” categories advance to the International Silver Stick Finals Tournament in forest, Ont.

The Silver Stick tournaments have become a community affair in Wingham. Businesses proudly support the tournaments, sponsor ice time and place ads in the program,  offer silver stick specials at their place of business and ensure that the 48 teams that come to town during the tournaments receive a hearty welcome.

    Sunday, March 17th, 2013:

Welcome to the 54th Annual Mildmay-Carrick Minor Hockey Atom Tournament.

The Mildmay Atom Tournament has established a long tradition for sportsmanship and competition for Atom age players throughout southwestern Ontario.

Our tournament’s success depends heavily on the teams, players and coaches that participate each and every year, so we thank you for participating in our 54th Annual Atom Tournament.

It is great to see so many teams returning and also to see players playing here for the first time.  To all of you, we extend a warm Mildmay WELCOME.

Finally, a big thank you to the many volunteers, parents, local businesses, organizations, ice sponsors and prize donors who willingly donate their time, energy and services throughout the weekend in order to make our tournament operate smoothly.
