The TCDMHA Sierra Aggregates Midget C Rebel Girls participated in the St Thomas Panthers on the Prowl tournament this past weekend. Although the outcome wasn't quite what they had hoped, the girls had a great time.
The Rebels faced the Mount Brydges Cougars in their first game. They almost had it wrapped up when Shauna Greenwood popped one past Rebels netminder Patti Scarrow to tie the game. There was a scramble in the Rebel's end with a little over a minute to go and Allison Thomas managed to put the Cougars ahead by 1. The game ended in a 2-1 loss for the Rebels.
The Rebels came on strong in game 2 against the Parkhill Stars on Friday night. Julie Row scored for the Stars midway through the first period. The Rebels fought back hard and Jacey Lisk managed to tie the game, assisted by Brianna Cook with only seconds to go to leave the Rebels with a 1-1 tie.
The highlight of the weekend for the Rebels came in game 3 when the faced off against the Clearview Ice Cats on Saturday afternoon. Rebels players and fans went wild when newcomer Nicki-Lee Johnson scored her first ever career goal, assisted by Kristina Dyer. This put the Rebels up 1-0. Samantha McDaid answered back for the Ice Cats near the end of period 2 to tie the game. It was a hard played game by both teams, but McDaid managed to find the back of the Rebels net again with 44 seconds to go in the game, leaving the Rebels with a 2-1 loss.
