Bantam C out of Playdowns
Within the first minute of play, the Country Charm Mennonite Furniture Bantam C Rebels opened the scoring with a goal from Kristina Dyer (Melissa Stirling) for their 3rd playdown game of the 1st round against Grey Highlands Shooting Stars.
Not to be outdone, Grey Highlands came back to tie the game late in the first period. With no scoring in the second, Markdale took the lead in the 3rd. With the Rebels pulling their goalie with 4 minutes left in play in hopes of tying it up, they just couldn't get one past the Markdale goalie before a late penalty from a Rebels player forcing the goalie back on the ice and the Rebels to go on the defensive. With 34 seconds left in the game and the penalty up, the goalie was pulled in one more attempt to charge the Markdale net but it didn't work out in the Rebels favour. Markdale scored on an empty net with 19 seconds left in the game to end the game 3-1.
