REBELS BRING HOME GOLD!!
The TCDMHA Town & Country Garden Centre Midget C Rebel Girls participated in the 14th Annual Orillia Hawks Tournament this past weekend

The Rebels kicked off their weekend with a game against West Nipissing on Friday afternoon.  A quick shot from Nicki Brancati put the Rebels on the board in the second period.  The Rebels dominated the play until midway through the third.  A series of penalties left them short-handed, allowing Natalie Labelle and Nasya Leduc to score for West Nipissing and the Rebels lost 2-1.

The girls rallied back in their second game Saturday afternoon against the physical squad from Mount Brydges.  The Rebels showed great discipline and teamwork, coming out with a 1-0 victory on a high shot from the point by Taylor Vokes.  The Rebels went up against St. Mary's on Saturday night.  Courtney Torrie opened the scoring for the Rebels in the first.  It was back and forth in the second with Mallory Mueller and Lindsay Griffiths scoring for St. Mary's and Erin Potter netting another for the Rebels.  The score was tied at 2 heading into the third.  Sidney Vaivods and Erin Potter popped in 2 more for the Rebels.  Emily Armstrong was only able to add one to the board for St.Mary's and the Rebels headed off to the semi-final round with a 4-3 victory.

As fate would have it, they faced off against St. Mary's again on Sunday morning. The Rebels hit the ice determined.  Erin Potter put the Rebels on the board in the first.  Courtney Torrie put them up 2-0 in the second and Nicole Ballagh-Evans clinched a 3-0 victory in the third to send them to the championships. The championship game was a nail biter and fans were on the edge of their seats.  Some fancy footwork and puck handling by the Rebels sent the game into overtime tied at zero.  The Rebels kept up the pressure and with 3:08
left in the overtime period, Erin Potter found the back of the net and the Rebels took home the gold!  Awesome team effort ladies!!
