RED & WHITE CHAMPS ...

Game 1 – Friday @ 5pm vs schomberg.pngschomberg.png Schomberg Red Wings     1 – 0 Loss
It was an even match-up with excellent goal tending at both ends, but the Red Wings were the ones that got lucky.

(The Rebels are lucky this year to have our "Arran-Elderslie Trio", with Mitch Faust and Lawson Cumming joining the returning Danny Rourke.  The boys and their families have fit right in with our group and are a definite asset to the team.)
Game 2 – Saturday @ 12pm vs logo_-_Millbrook_.png  Millbrook Stars    3 – 1 WIN
The crowd went wild as Mitch Faust netted the Rebels’ first goal of the tournament, assisted by Calvin Stewart. Jake Moran battled for the puck in the corner and managed to send it to the net for a tap in by Carson Torrie, and goal # 3 went tic-tac-toe from Mitch Stevens TorrieClay Krueger for the shot.

Game 3 – Saturday @ 4pm vs logo_-_Mitchell_.png Mitchell Meteors     1 – 0 Shutout WIN
Lawson Cumming continued to perform and defend the Rebels net.
Halfway through the 2nd period, Curtis Wade passed the puck from behind the net, to Austin King at the goal line. With a wrist shot/flip, he sent the puck up and over the goalie for what ended up to be the lone goal of the game … and it was enough to send the boys onto the B Championship on Sunday.

After another great night of team bonding, an 80’s dance party, the time change and a day of shopping we headed back to the rink.

Championship – Sunday @ 4:30pm vs logo_-_Orangeville.png  Orangeville Flyers    3 – 0 Shutout WIN
It was an exciting game from start to finish, full of breakaways, penalty shots, penalty killing, game suspensions and strategic coaching.
Mitch Faust scored a beauty to get the Rebels on the board right away, assisted by Wyatt Golem.
Midway through the 2nd, the Rebels successfully killed off a 5 minute penalty and just as the final seconds ticked away Cory Rasmussen cleared the zone, Jordan Beirnes booked it to the bench from the penalty box and Calvin Stewart flew out the other door, grabbed the puck on a breakaway and SCORED! With 4 minutes left in the 3rd, Rasmuessen shot from the point intentionally wide, and Carson Torrie tipped it in for some added insurance. (Thanks to my text-chain of hockey moms for this game’s play by play, it was just like being there!)

Township of Georgian Bluffs
Just a few hours from major Ontario cities, Georgian Bluffs is a collection of communities stretching north from Chatsworth to just south of Wiarton. Copper Kettle, Cobble Beach, Slough of Despond, Big Bay, Oxenden, Balmy Beach… these are just some of the names that paint a picture of the Georgian Bluffs canvas along the Georgian Bay Coastal Route. We have the natural beauty of waterfalls, the Niagara Escarpment and the blue waters of Georgian Bay just to mention a few of our natural amenities. We are a township for all seasons!
Township of Chatsworth
Essentially a rural community, the Township of Chatsworth takes its flavour from the farmlands and forests surrounding it. We welcome visitors to stop and visit as you drive through central Grey County. Amalgamated January 1, 2000, the Township of Chatsworth is made up of the former Townships of Holland and Sullivan and the Village of Chatsworth. The Township population is approximately 8,000 in an area of 260 square miles. Agriculture is the most predominant industry in the Township. There are also a significant number of sawmills in the township, many operated by the Amish community. Tourism and recreation are a growing industry. The Niagara Escarpment, 6 county forests, numerous conservation areas, inland lakes and major rivers provide plenty of year round activities including hiking, biking, snowmobiling, and cross country skiing.
