Total TEAM effort earns Tykes first win of season!
The Don Crawford Carpentry Tyke Rebels turned in their best all around effort with a big 6-0 win against the Shallow Lake Tykes in Desboro this morning. In a rare game where he didn't get "shell-shocked", Grady Fritsch turned aside all Laker attacks to earn his well deserved first shutout of the season.
The coaching staffs hard work finally paid off as the Rebels came out focussed, with a clear game plan. From the opening face-off, it was clear the Rebels came to play. Colton King started the scoring by outracing a defender and scoring with a hard shot on a breakaway. Braden King scored next with a quick shot after pouncing on a loose puck. Braden scored again after a nice pass from Kayden Kirk. Kayden's hard work paid off as he was able to put a sharp angled shot in for his first of the season to extend the lead to 4. The Rebels were also taking care of business in their own end with particular strong efforts from Austin Edwards, Cohen Cook, Rogan Vanstone, and Riley Roblin.
Duncan Hofmann was able to score his first career goal on a goal mouth scramble, moments after a heartbreaking shot off the post, assist by Noah Garrett. The tykes wrapped up the scoring when Duncan returned the favour to Noah to make the final 6-0.
Special mention Billy Catto who was always in the right position in front of the opposition net, although was held off the scoresheet. Mason Petan helped out with some timely clears of the puck from harms way and Cody Heathers, with his strongest game of the season, ended the game with a breakaway from the blueline that the Laker goalie made a strong save to deny.
Total team effort today! Great job by everyone. The Tykes next action is a return affair next Friday in Shallow Lake.
