The TCDMHA “Gaviller &
Company” Bantam C Girls participated in the 13th
Annual Saugeen Shores Girls Silver Stick Tournament this weekend. The girls played some great hockey and should
be very proud of all the accomplished.
Game One saw the girls face off against Petrolia. Grace Kuhl scored both goals for the Rebels giving us the 2:1 victory for our opening game of the tournament. Rachel Aitcheson & Carlie Cook were both awarded assists. MVP of the game: Grace Kuhl.
Late Saturday morning the girls played their league rivals the Kincardine Kinucks. It was a very tight game with the girls down 1:0 heading into the last few minutes of the game. With an empty net the Rebels tried hard to tie it up but unfortunately Kincardine was able to bury an empty netter to give them the 2:0 win. MVP: Madison Doig
After the tough loss in the morning the girls knew it was win or go home Saturday night at the Plex. Meeting Ilderton the girls fell behind in the first but came on strong in the 2nd and 3rd periods, eventually taking the game 4:1. Scoring for the Rebels were Rachel Aitcheson, (x2), Skylar Golem & Grace Kuhl. MVP: Hannah Mustard
Sunday morning the ladies would face off against the Lucknow Sepoys in semi-final action. There was lots of back and forth action in both ends of the rink throughout the game. Madison Doig & Carlie Cook both scored for the Rebels but with three minutes left Lucknow pulled ahead and took the game 3:2. Madison Doig was awarded her second MVP of the tournament! Way to go Maddy!!
The Bantam Girls did a great job this weekend and thanks to all our fellow Rebels who came out to cheer us on. Although we didn’t bring a banner back to Chatsworth, it just makes us that much hungrier for the next time!!
