TCDMHA “Gaviller & Company” Bantam C Girls are the 2013/2014 WOAA BANTAM CHAMPIONSFour games in three days and lots of great hockey action for the many who had the pleasure of watching these amazing young ladies play this weekend!!
On the eve of their year-end tournament the ladies decided to host Mount Forest in Exhibition play. This hard fought battled ended in a 2:2 tie with lots of great action in both ends of the arena. Rachel Aitcheson & Jessica Moran scored for the home team while Emily Roney played a solid game between the pipes. Assists on the night were awarded to Grace Kuhl & Skylar Golem.
Saturday morning the lady Rebels played off against Walkerton in game one of the year-end show down. As always Walkerton came out hard but the Chatty girls held on to win the game 2:1. Kassey Mustard & Valerie Gibbons scored while Shannon Stryker & Emily Moore assisted.
Blyth/Brussels was the team to beat to get to the Championship game. Both teams were held scoreless in the first period but after a goal by Emily Moore in the 2nd and two more by Valerie Gibbons & Rachel Aitcheson in the 3rd the girls took the game 3:1. Assists awarded to Kassey Mustard & Madison Doig.
Sunday afternoon in Ayton was the back-drop for the Championship game. TCDMHA vs. West Grey in the biggest game of the year!! West Grey has remained undefeated this season so the Rebels knew they had a big job to do if they wanted to bring home the trophy. Carlie Cook scored for the Rebels with Shannon Stryker & Grace Kuhl assisting early in the first period to give the Rebels the lead! And with fantastic defensive play by the entire team the ladies held on to win the game 1:0. Hannah Mustard gets the shut-out win for the Rebels!!
WOW!!!!! These young ladies played some amazing hockey this weekend and it will serve them well as they gear up for the Provincial Championships April 11th – 13th!! Look out Mississauga....here we come!!!
