The Barry's Construction Atom LL#2 team came out flying as they hit the ice Saturday morning at the Bayshore Community Centre. The Rebels delivered a stellar performance and were rewarded with a 7-1 victory.
The Rebels took a few shifts to get used to the bigger ice surface but then began to use the open ice to their advantage. The first goal of the game was textbook perfect. Clean breakout play by the defence, chasing the puck down and digging it out of the offensive corner, to a great pass out front and burying the rebound. Andersen McComb was awarded the first goal with assists coming from Ashton Spencer and Jackson Greig.
Greig scored the next goal with 10 seconds left in the first receiving a great pass from Jimmy Couch. Greig led the Rebels squad with 4 goals and an assist in the game. Ashton Spencer scored one of his own and added another assist. And rounding out the scoring for the Rebels was Couch. It would not be fair if I didn't mention the great defensive plays and strong back end of the team, not much can get through them; but when the puck does find its way to through Rebels netminder WYATT GARREN stands on his head! He was quick and agile in the game today moving from side to side and up and down. Holy Moly what a goalie! Great teamwork Rebels, things are really coming together. It takes everyone to achieve the W's!
