Finish WOAA Round-Robin PLAYOFFS ... UNDEFEATED
The numbers and energy in the stands didn't compare to Sunday's excitement, but the action on the ice sure measured up, as the 'Air-Tech Mechanical' BANTAM REP Boys shut-out the visiting Hanover Falcons ... and ended the
WOAA Lockridge Division Round-Robin Playoffs with their 4th straight WIN!
The boys will move on to face the West Grey Warriors in the Final Series.
The REBELS looked strong right from the drop of the puck. They still had the momentum of the weekend games in their favour and doubled the Falcon's shots on net.
With the action mainly in the opponent's end
Austin McComb sent a high one into the net at 7:37, assisted by
Austin King and
Wyatt Golem. The Falcon's goal tender settled in after that and we didn't get another one past him until midway through the 2nd period.
Cory Rasmussen got the pass to
Hunter Schultz who carried it over the blue line and fired it in at 8:13. On a clean breakout from our end, the puck went from
Danny Rourke to
Golem and over to
McComb for a snapshot to the net at 3:13.
Clayton Kreuger finished off the scoring in the 2nd period by going hard to the net and then getting his own rebound with a wrap-around in 5-hole, assisted by
Jordan Beirnes at 1:45.
The lone goal of the 3rd came when
Kreuger sent a pass in the air across the crease, and
Jake Moran hit it in (getting ready for ball season a bit early), assisted by
Carson Torrie at 6:46.
At our end of the ice, Lawson Cumming worked his magic and denied the shots that came his way to secure the shut-out.
Final Score: REBELS 5 - FALCONS 0
The boys switch gears and head back to Norwich on Saturday for GAME 5 of their OMHA SEMI-FINALS in a do-or die match with the Knighthawks.
Book your seats for Sunday in Chatty ... we plan to be back for GAME 6!
