The
Horton Concrete Novice Rep Rebels played host to the
AEMHA IceDogs eager to start the year off on the right foot. Less than 3
minutes into the game,
Kody Cook blasted a hard shot
towards the net that deflected off an IceDog D-man and into the net to jump out
to an early lead, that we would never relinquish. Keeping the pressure on; less
than 2 minutes later
Cook would score again, this time
assisted by
Carter Frook and
Matthew LaFond. That is how the first period would end,
with the Rebels up 2-0.
Cook would complete his hat trick 45 seconds into the second, assisted by Colton King. The ‘Dogs weren’t ready to give up though and answered back 10 seconds later to cut the lead to 3-1. They would cut the lead to one before LaFond, from Frook would restore momentum in the Rebels favour. Moments later Cook would add his 4th unassisted then AP Jhett McKee would add his first in a Rep jersey, again assisted by Frook. The ‘Dogs would add one more with 3 seconds left to end the 2nd with the Rebels up 6-3.
Showing some bite, the ‘Dogs were able to pull within 2 early in the 3rd, before LaFond added his 2nd unassisted with a little less than 3 minutes to play to complete the scoring. The Rebels went into defence mode to finish the game and take a well-deserved 7-4 win. Great job boys.
