6th Place finish at Arthur Tourney for Horton Concrete Novice Rep Rebels
It was a busy but fun-filled day for the Horton Concrete Novice Rep team as they headed to Arthur Sunday for their annual One-Day Tournament, finishing 6th of 8 teams.
The Rebels drew a strong squad at 10am from South Kent in their opener and fell 6-0 despite a heroic effort from Rebel goalie Jacob Fluney who kept the game presentable, and was awarded player of the game for the Rebels.

After a pizza lunch, some boisterous mini-stick action and of course some iPod playing the Rebels were back on the ice at 2 determined to have a better result against Muskoka.  Right from the start you could see the effort from all players, attacking the puck at  both ends of the ice.  Despite that, the Rebels found themselves down 1-0 midway through the 3rd before Kody Cook broke in on a breakaway and fired one low stick side.  Assists to Hunter McComb and Matthew LaFond.  Despite some furious action at both ends, the game ended tied at one.

Leading to the most exciting play in the sports; the shootout!  First up for the Rebels was Carter Frook who fought a rolling puck, but fired on past the Muskoka goalie, Fluney shut the door at the other end.  Next up was Cook who was unable to match his result from earlier and was denied, Fluney again with the save.  This led to the 3rd shooters for each team, where either a goal or a save from the Rebels would result in the win.  The Rebels got both as Finlay Johnston scored and Fluney stood tall to take the shoot-out 2-0 leading to the "C" championship game.  Johnston was awarded player of the game with notable efforts displayed by Simon Potter and LaFond.

Taking the ice at 5 against a solid Twin Centre team the Rebels needed their best effort to win.  Despite a valiant effort, the Rebels ran out of gas a bit late and fell 4-1 with Cook scoring the lone goal unassisted. Cook was P.O.G.
Great job rebels!
