COMEBACK with a WIN in O.T.
WHAT A GAME!!!
Jake Moran scored in O.T. and the 'Harold Sutherland Construction' PEEWEE REP Rebels take GAME 2 and tie the OMHA series with the Shallow Lake Lakers.
The boys stepped up and showed the Lakers they were up to the challenge tonight.
1st Period - The Lakers took a 2 goal lead midway through, but the Rebels' offence didn't back down. Calvin Stewart stole the puck behind the Lakers' net, got a pass to Austin King and he fed Pearce Lacey out front, for the one-timer at 2:33.
The Rebels defence didn't end up on the score sheet tonight, but they were instrumental in controlling the play in their own end ... and sending a number of shots towards the Lakers' net too.
2nd Period - Calvin muscled his way into the Lakers' end and sent a cross-ice pass to Austin who was ready with a shot top corner, for the tying and only goal of the period at 7:03.
3rd Period - The Lakers took the lead again at 7:41, but 33 seconds later Curtis Wade carried the puck in and fired a back hand pass to Pearce at the net. Pearce took the shot, but it was blocked and Curtis pushed towards the net to tap in the rebound. Gavin Gibbons scored on a power play at 2:38 to complete his hat-trick and put the Lakers up 4 -3.
Jason headed to the bench and the Rebels sent out the extra skater looking for yet another tying goal . . . and it worked!!!
Calvin won the face-off in the Lakers' end and sent the puck straight to Jake for the one-timer to the back of the net at 1:16. The final minute was spent evenly in both ends, with everybody trying for the winning goal, that never came . . . onto O.T.
Over Time Period - It was fast and furious from one end to the other. Finally . . . 7 minutes and 7 seconds later . . . with some stunning work by Calvin to set it up, Jake fired in the WINNING GOAL!!! Final score 5 - 4.
Jason Rudolph-MacLeod saw over 50 SHOTS from the talented Lakers' offence, and the only word to describe his performance was "AWESOME".
The boys celebrated the win and coach Shane's 40th Birthday with cupcakes after the game.
Game 3 is this Saturday at 3:00pm in Shallow Lake. GO-REBELS-GO
