REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS!
The Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 team had a busy week of games to finish off the regular season. 3 Games, 3 WINS!

GAME 1 - The team travelled to Wiarton on Wednesday to face the Bruce Peninsula Predators#1 team. The ice in Wiarton seemed extra slippery and the Rebels found themselves on their butts and trailing 1-0 after the first. After a quick pep talk at the bench they got their legs under them and started to pick up the pace of the game. Carter Frook positioned himself in front of the Predators net and got the Rebels on the board first with a nice wrister top corner. Matthew LaFond and Neil Gilchrist battled hard along the boards to get that pass out to Frook. Players gather in front of the bench again to listen to coaches instructions for the 3rd period. Frook records his second of the night with assists going to Hunter McComb and Johnathon Farmer. Jackson Gordon shoots hard to the net but it was Neil Gilchrist who banks in the rebound so hard we heard it ring off the metal at the back of the net.  Gordon would be rewarded with his own goal late in the period after chasing down the puck and sneaking it in the side of the net. Helpers on that goal go to McComb and Farmer. And again these Rebels show us their customary style of scoring in the last few seconds of the game with a goal and his HAT-TRICK, Carteeeeerrrrrrrr Frook!! Assisted with a great passing combination by LaFond and Finlay Johnston.

GAME 2 - Saturday morning the Desboro Tire squad headed to Shallow Lake, to face the Lakers #2 team. Carter Frook got the Rebels on the scoreboard first with a nice set-up by Jackson Gordon and Logan Curtis. Jackson Gordon began the second by netting one of his own from Frook. The Rebels pressed hard on the Lakers goal and Matthew LaFond was rewarded for the hard work with a goal. Hunter McComb and Neil Gilchrist were in on the assists. Gilchrist netted the fourth Rebels goal with a great set-up from Austin Rasmussen and LaFond. However, Shallow Lake didn’t quit, and were able to get 2 past the Rebels to end the game 4-2.

GAME 3 – The Novice LL#1 squad played host to Bruce Peninsula #2 Sunday in Desboro to finish off the regular season. The team stuck to the game plan, concentrated hard on their positions and made some fantastic heads up passing plays. The team was rewarded with a 12-1 victory. Neil Gilchrist led the Rebels with 4 goals, Johnathon Farmer, Matthew LaFond, Austin Rasmussen and Carter Frook each recorded 2 goals each. And the special players who fought hard to get the puck to the open players were Hunter McComb with 3 assists, Jackson Gordon with 3 assists, Rasmussen, Farmer, Gilchrist, LaFond and Frook with 1 each.

Congratulations to the Desboro Tire Novice LL#1 team for finishing the Regular Season in First Place! They have worked so hard and deserve a huge pat on the back. They learned it’s not the name on the back of the jersey that matters, it’s the name on the front. Go REBELS! Great teammates on and off the ice! Way to go Boys! We celebrate today, but show up to work hard on Wednesday.
