It was a 2 - 2 game for the COUNTRY CHARM MENNONITE FURNITURE Bantam 'C' Girls and the West Grey 'C' Warriors, but the action on the ice was almost overshadowed by the chaos in the parking lot.
Madison Vokes was on her game tonight and buried her
first AND
second goals of the season for the REBELS at 5:36 and 5:04 of the 1st period. Her first was on a beauty pass from
Jessica Moran, and the second from
Aly Airdrie at the point.
West Grey scored their 2 goals at 10:57 and 2:59 in the 2nd period ... and that's when the excitement in the parking lot began.
The game was interrupted at 2:11 with an evacuation of the arena due to a CAR ON FIRE in the parking lot beside the building.
9-1-1 was called, cars parked nearby were moved to safety and the Township of Chatsworth Fire Department was on the scene in minutes to extinguish the burning vehicle.
When it was safe to re-enter the arena, the game was back on. Neither team was able to get another shot past the goal-tenders, so the game remained a 2 - 2 tie.
After walking outside ... There will be a rush on skate sharpening tomorrow, before the girls take to the ice in Stratford on Friday morning.
GOOD LUCK IN THE TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND LADIES!
