This Game was Intense!!
The Township of Chatsworth "Howell Transport" Bantam LL played the Kincardine Kinucks on Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 at the Tara Arena. This was the second time within a week that these two teams faced each other. The previous game had resulted in a 2 - 1 win for the Rebels. Javier Koeslag was in net for the Rebels for this game.
Both teams wanted the win and the crowd could just sense the energy and the intensity from the first puck drop. The Rebels put the puck in their opponents' net on the very first shift but the goal was called off due to the net being off. Emmitt Jackson opened the official scoring for the game at 8:44 with a breakaway and some pretty cool and calculated moves in front of the Kinuck's goalie, who did not stand a chance. 1 - 0 for the Rebels at the end of Period One.
The Rebels scored their second goal at 10:46 in Period Two. Robert LaFond scored this goal, assisted by Brennan Snyder and Emmett Jackson. Forty-six seconds later Kincardine answered back with their first goal. The Rebels did not hang their heads and they bounced back at 7:29 with a goal by Aiden Callahan-Cummins, nicely assisted by Brennan Snyder. Kincardine was playing well and they scored again at 2:40. 3 - 2 at the end of Period Two.
Both teams came out with even more intensity in Period 3. Jeffrey Rodger scored twice in this period to ensure a Rebels' win. The first goal was assisted in "play of the week fashion" by Layne Edwards and Aiden Callahan-Cummins. The second goal was another one for the highlight reel, a perfectly timed, beautiful shot on a great feeder pass by Maverick Lacey. The Rebels were looking strong and confident. Though Kincardine would score a goal during this period, it was not enough. Javier Koeslag turned away some of the shots on net with his stick and his pads, and his glove did the rest. The defence left nothing to chance.
