Cumming with the Shutout!
The Township of Chatsworth and District, Moggie Valley Timber Inc., Midget Rep Rebels battled the Shallow Lake Lakers in Markdale and the Rebels played one of their strongest games of the season - backed by Lawson Cumming with the shutout.

Rebels started strong against the Lakers who have been one of the top teams all season.  The fans were treated to some good hockey with lots of fast breaks and solid body contact.  Rebel goalie Cumming was forced to come up big a number of times in the first period.  Rebels spent more time in control of the puck and in the offensive end, but the Lakers seemed to be firing more quality shots.  Rebels made it through the period penalty free which also helped them end the period tied 0 - 0.
The first shift of the second saw the puck go deep in the Lakers end.  Calvin Stewart dug it out of the corner and attempted to score from the angle and the rebound came to Austin McComb who made no mistake and buried it up and over the goalie to give the Rebels the lead.  Shortly thereafter, Rebels took their only penalty of the game.  Hard forechecking saw almost the entire penalty kill spent either in the Lakers end or in the center ice area.  Cumming stood up to the only good scoring chance Lakers had and the Rebels survived still in the lead.
Rebels seemed to gain further confidence from this and when the Lakers became frustrated and begin to ramp up the body contact, all the Rebels stepped up and were not only willing to take the punishment but several of the Rebels really stepped up their own contact and this seemed to surprise the Lakers and led them to take some penalties.
While the power play has been a REALLY sore spot for the Rebels all year, they managed to control the puck and had several scoring opportunities.  They still did manage to give a couple of breakaways to the Lakers, but good hustle back by the Rebels and excellent play by Cumming kept the Rebel net clear.  Finally, up 5 on 3, Josh Currie slipped a seeing eye puck through from the side of the net to give the Rebels a 2 - 0 lead going into the 3rd.
The third saw more physical battles, more great saves at both ends and no change in the score as the Rebels defeated the Lakers 2 - 0 and Lawson Cumming recorded the shutout.
Rebels take to the ice to face the Wingham Ironmen Sunday, December 22 @ 2 pm in Markdale.  Come out and cheer them on for their final game of 2019.
Let's go Rebels!!!
